Fuzikuang Fm
Type Locality and Naming
Northeast peninsula of Shandong. The Fuzikuang Fm was named by the Jiaodong Team of Regional Geological Survey in Changchun Institute of Geology in 1960, and firstly quoted by China Commission on Stratigraphy in 1962. The typical section is located in Fuzikuang, Qixia County, Shandong Province.
Synonym: (辅子夼组)
Lithology and Thickness
The Fuzikuang Fm is dominated by white, medium-to thick-bedded quartzite intercalated with blue gray, brownish yellow and brownish red slate and thin-bedded quartzite. Some quartzite has ripple marks and cross-beddings. The total thickness varies from 580 to 830 m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
The basal part of white thick-bedded quartzite conformably overlies the blue-gray slate of the underlying Baoshankou Fm
Upper contact
The top part of uppermost brownish yellow thin-bedded quartzite is conformably bounded by the dark gray siliceous slate of the overlying Mashan Fm; or it is disconformably overlain by the Xiangkuang Fm. [NOTE: Xiangkuang Fm is now assigned to Mesoproterozoic?]
Regional extent
Northeast peninsula of Shandong. With a persistent lithology, the Fuzikuang Fm is restricted to Fuzikuang of Qixia County to Gaotong of Fushan County, and locally outcrops in north Penglai County and Qimu Island in Longkou of Huangxian County.
